Prose Poem

I found this column and prose poem from a former soldier, in a NY Times blog. The writer, an Army veteran, is discussing how a person leaves a place of war and returns home, and what that transition is like: http://homefires.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/to-bedlam-and-back/

It's strange to imagine what this experience would be like; the closest experience I've had to joining the armed forces came when I was graduating college, and I called up a service center about a photography position that was likely no more than a recruiting ploy.

  1. Thanks Kate,
I had time to only browse the site...however it dos resonate. My father was at Omaha Beach on D-Day and he never was able discuss or even mention it. I've been left to my own devices to fill in the missing pieces. My father was always exceptionally focused and driven...he is a "hard man" and he was and is still incredibly angry with me.....Now I like to think it was a result of his war experience.
